Exciting News… Gutter-Vac named Wet & Forget Stockists

We are pleased to let you know that not only are we now fully restocked with all of our products (including Gutter-Flow), Gutter-Vac has been named a stockist for Wet & Forget which is perfect for mould and lichen removal.

Mould and lichen is not only unsightly, it can also potentially be harmful to your property and if on surfaces where there is ‘foot traffic’, it can also be a major slip hazard.

At Gutter-Vac we use a number of different products to maintain your home and one of the products we like to use is Wet & Forget.  Becoming a stockist for the product now means the Gutter-Vac franchisees have access to the product in large concentrated quantities so can carry out any work – large or small.  Click here to request a quote.

Gutter-Flow is now fully restocked so if you have been considering a gutter guard, we highly recommend Gutter-Flow.  There is a reason for this…. Even if you have a gutter guard, your gutters will still need to be cleaned.  Maybe less frequently, but they will still need to be cleaned because dirt, seeds, mud and sludge will continue to build up under a gutter guard.

This is why we use Gutter-Flow because not only does it keep the large leafy matter out of your gutters, but it also allows water flow PLUS it is easy to remove, clean the gutters and then replace to continue guarding your gutters without any damage to your gutters.  Not sure if Gutter-Flow is right for you or not?  Click here to request a quote and to discuss with your local Gutter-Vac franchisee.

Gutter-Vac uses and recommends Miss Muffet’s Revenge which is a great spider repellent product as it helps guard your home from creepy crawlies.  Spiders are good for the environment to help control unwanted insects, however we don’t always want them in or around our homes.  The way Miss Muffet’s Revenge works is by creating an impassable barrier to stop spiders in their tracks! In 2021, we are going to be delivering more valuable products to all franchisees to be able to help you maintain your property further.

Do gutter guard systems work?

Few people like cleaning out their gutters so the idea of installing a gutter guard system sounds like an attractive option. But there are 4 things you need to consider first.

  1. Even with a gutter protection system, your gutters will still require cleaning!

All gutters need regular cleaning – even after a gutter guard system is installed. In fact, many gutter protection systems make it harder to clean your gutters so be careful about the product you choose.

  • The cost of installation.

A fixed gutter guard system is usually the most expensive option to install. You could consider using a soft plastic gutter guard product. They are inexpensive but they are a waste of time and money.

However, there is a gutter protection product on the market called Gutter Flow. It works very well and is a moderately priced alternative to a fixed gutter guard system. Get in touch with us, if you’d like more information.

  • The cost of cleaning your gutters after installation of a gutter guard product.

Before committing to any gutter protection system, do your research to discover how much it will cost to clean your gutters in the future. Usually fixed gutter guard products cost around 4 times more than gutter cleaning with no protection, while push in plastic guards can cost 2½ times more to clean.

With a gutter protection system called Gutter Flow, the cost to clean your gutters is about the same as cleaning them without protection. The benefit is, you don’t need to clean your gutters as often with Gutter Flow installed.

  • All gutter protection systems must comply with Council Regulations.

Are you required to install ember guards in your area? Ember guards need to be non-combustible with a hole gauge of less than 2mm. None of this will matter if you still have debris sitting on top of the ember guard. Again, that’s why regular gutter cleaning is so important.

Please remember, whatever gutter protection system you use, you will need to clean your gutters on a regular basis because mud, sludge and moss will always build up over time.

5 things every Northern Beaches property owner should consider before choosing a gutter guard system

The advertising around permanent gutter guard products would have you believe “You never need to clean your gutters again”. But this is a myth.

Permanent mesh gutter protection stops large twigs and large leaves from entering your gutters. But they don’t stop small leaves, petals, seeds, pollen, dust or dirt. Over time, sludge will build up, providing vermin with a bountiful food source, and they’ll soon use your cosy ceiling cavity as their home.

So, even if you have permanent gutter guard installed, your gutters will still need to be cleaned. But worse, if you select the wrong system, these gutter guards will need to be removed, cleaned and re-installed. This can significantly increase the time required to clean your gutters.

Some people suggest pressure washing gutters. But it’s not a good idea as this method simply pushes water and sludge into your ceiling cavity, which can cause damage to your home.

There are some good permanent gutter guard products on the market. You just need to make sure you choose the system that’s right for your property.

5 things to consider when choosing a permanent gutter guard system – especially if you live on Sydney’s leafy North shore

  1. Is your home surrounded by trees? If it is, do these trees drop pollen, shed their leaves or drop flowers?
  1. Does your area have a vermin problem? That includes insects like mosquitos, rats, possums or mice.
  1. Do you live in an area that’s considered to be at risk during bush fire season? If you do, there may be specific building codes that relate to bush fire prevention and this could affect your permanent gutter guard options.
  1. Will the permanent gutter protection system be easy to clean and remove (because your gutters will still need cleaning regardless of the system you choose)?
  1. Is the gutter protection system you’re considering worth the investment compared with the cost of using a regular gutter cleaning service?

As Professional Gutter Cleaners, we have seen many different forms of gutter protection systems across the Northern Beaches and North Shore suburbs of Sydney.

In our view, many of these systems are ineffective and simply add to the costs of gutter cleaning. When we speak to homeowners, the one common feeling they share is their bitter disappointment with the gutter guard product they selected. It usually cost them thousands of dollars and has proven to be ineffective in providing the protection it promised. All gutters need regular cleaning – even if you have a gutter guard product installed. So, if it’s been a year or so since you last cleaned your gutters, give us a call on 1300 654 253 or book on-line at https://www.guttervac.com.au/locations/upper-north-shore-and-northern-beaches/
