It’s been another bad week for bushfires in Townsville. The hot and windy weather, along with the very low humidy is creating the perfect environment for fires to break out. This week a couple of these out-of-control fires have come quite close to people’s homes and so we cannot stress enough the importance of preparing your home for bushfire season.

Often, people don’t realise that the majority of homes lost during a bushfire are lost to ember attack. This means that even if the fire is not directly near your home, you are still at risk. Embers can travel several kilometres on the wind and catch alight on any flammable material they land on. Therefore, it is important that your gutters and roof are kept clean of any leaf litter and debris. Any debris in your gutters can easily catch fire which can quickly spread into your ceiling cavity and have devastating effects.
