It is 2015 already! Can you believe it?
I started Gutter-Vac 20 years ago in 1995 and some days it feels like it was just yesterday and other days it feels like the full 20 years that it has been.
I knew as I was creating the specialised Gutter-Vac equipment that it was going to change the way the industry worked. I knew that it was going to be the solution to the many hours – dirty hours – I was spending cleaning gutters by hand.
As we enter 2015, we have over 60 franchise territories operational and we are consistently growing year on year. Our partner company in the USA – Outback GutterVac – has launched and is set for a big first year franchising. I can’t believe how exciting it has been and just how much more exciting it is going to get.
People still ask me all the time ‘Can you really make a living cleaning gutters?’ Many people would be shocked if they saw just the sort of money our franchisees can and are making. I’m excited that this little idea I had more than 20 years ago has not only created an exciting business for me, it has also created great businesses for our franchisees in both money, time and enjoyment for them and of course for their families.
Late last year, after the big storm in Brisbane, I found myself on the roof giving one of our franchisees a hand on an urgent job on a big hotel. The joy it brought me to get back on the roof doing a job was unreal. As the franchisee said, it was like I was a kid in a candy store!
Even 20 years later, I still love what we do and I think that has been the key to our success to date. As this is our 20th year, I hope you can celebrate with us and watch this space ….. we are not done yet!
