In business, sometimes you have to do what is termed ‘driving the miles’. This basically means that you have to take the journey, no matter how long it is or how far, to reach the destination you desire.
In 2016, we saw many franchisees ‘drive the miles’ in their business to new levels of success, but we also had many franchisees LITERALLY driving the miles!
Of note, Mike, one of our franchisees in Adelaide, secured a large contract in the Northern Territory. He and his son, hooked up their trailer and drove all the way to Darwin!! Yes, Darwin. For nearly 3 months, they worked in the Northern Territory, whilst still having a second team on the ground in Adelaide, ensuring they were looking after their customers there.
Tim, our Cairns franchisee, drove down from Cairns to pick up a new trailer. I met him in Bundaberg where he turned around and drove home again.
Thomas and Sarella, from Midland and Joondalup/Wanneroo in Western Australia, decided that when they were getting another machine to expand their business, that it might be fun to do it as a road trip and drove to Brisbane from Perth… and return!! I think it was kind of nuts, but they had a blast!
Norm, our franchisee from the Southern Highlands and Shoalhaven, one day posted on Facebook his drive between two of his crews out working on jobs. Just 180 kilometres!
These were just some of the ‘big’ trips. It makes me wonder, how many kilometres our franchisees do – even just on a weekly basis – if we collated all their travels together!
So keep an eye out for the big red Gutter-Vac trailer! It is another of our franchisees doing the miles to build their business and to clean gutters for their customers!
