If you asked the average person what they think we find in gutters, they would probably answer leaves! In most cases, you’d absolutely be corrected. But when the Gutter-Vac franchisees are out and about cleaning gutters, you’d be amazed at some of the stuff we find in gutters and it isn’t just your standard leaves, mud and sludge.
We find some creators – unfortunately some dead and some alive, take your pick on which is the ‘unfortunately’. From snakes, spiders, rodents and all manner of insects, you’d be surprised what is living and feeding in your gutters.
We find items of all shapes and sizes. When the Gutter-Vac franchisees are out cleaning the gutters at schools, they usually get a good haul of returned goods for the school from balls and sports equipment through to hats.
We can also find some nasties, such as syringes. You wouldn’t want to be cleaning gutters by hand knowing that these are a fairly common find in all sorts of gutters!
Then of course we have the things that are growing in the gutters. You name it, we have seen them. Small plants, creepers that are creating almost hanging gardens, through to fully fledged shrubs and trees. We have seen trees that are metres (yes metres) tall with root systems fully growing through the gutters for metres. You can’t simply yank them out of the gutter – well not if you want the whole gutter to come off your house with them.
So yes, we find lots of leaves, mud and sludge whilst gutter cleaning, but sometimes we find some other things that can cause gutter blockages and need to be removed as soon as possible to prevent overflowing and blocked gutters that could end up causing water damage to your home.
