The fires in the Huon Valley in 2018 caused a lot of damage and fear. Smoke hung around the valley and Kingston for days.
In both of these photos, Mount Wellington should be in the background, but it cannot be seen due to the smoke from the fires.
People with breathing problems were affected by the constant smoke. Small children had to stay indoors for days to keep them safe from inhaling the smoke.
The fear of the threat of the fire moving toward homes was felt by those in the Valley. Ember attacks were a real threat to anyone, even in Kingston.
