We had an interesting experience cleaning solar panels recently. The home owner had checked the output of the solar panels prior to our cleaning them. When the client re-measured the output after our solar panel clean, it had DOUBLED!
Solar panels need to be cleaned as a result of pollen and wind-blown dust in the air settling on them (and sometimes bird and bat droppings) and it is recommended that this should be done every 6 mths:
“We recommend that panels be cleaned and inspected at a minimum once every six months. Cleaning at regular intervals prevents buildup of residue and keeps your panels operating optimally at all times.” Solar Choice Nov 24, 2016
