Gutter-Vac Tasmania Is Going To Be At The Be Ready Bruny Event

The Be Ready Bruny event is being run by Tasmania Fire Services. It is being held on Saturday 14th October, from 11am to 2pm, at the Alonnah Hall South Bruny.

This event is to encourage local residents to come and see what they need to do to get their homes prepared for the coming fire season. It is predicted that there is a higher than normal risk for some areas of Tasmania.

These events provide information to residents so they can be prepared and vigilant.

TSF and the Bureau of Meteorology have described warning signs of climatic conditions such as dry soil, drought and rainfall being factors that will affect some areas of Tasmania and increase their risk of fire.

Developing a bushfire survival plan could save your house and your lives. TSF have developed 100 Bushfire Protection Plans for individual communities. You can go to the website and check out if there is a plan for you.

Or come to Alonnah on Saturday 14th and get ready for this year’s fire season.

According to Forecaster Tom Saunders, who is chief meteorologist with Sky News, “Tasmania has had the driest winter on record for much of the East Coast, which means the vegetation is much drier than normal,” He said winter brought only 109mm of rain to Hobart, which was the driest in 11 years and well below the average of 160mm.(Information taken from article by  ANNE MATHER, Sunday Tasmanian September 24, 2017 12:00am)
