My first week of business has been very hectic and much busier than I had expected it to be. I had some marketing in place before I was due to start business which coincided with several days of heavy rain. This in turn created a large number of enquiries regarding Gutter-Vac services, plenty of quotes and enough jobs to keep me busy for the week.
I have found that people have been very impressed with the Gutter-Vac concept. A lot of people have told me what a great idea it is.
The training was an awesome learning experience and certainly guided me into making some good decisions in my first week of business. Peter and Michelle Hayne (the NSW Master Franchisors) have been extremely supportive in the lead up months to me purchasing the franchise in the Gosford area. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their time and effort and for answering the many questions that I have had over the previous months. Warren Ballantyne has also been a great help to me and many thanks to him for sharing his passion for Gutter-Vac and his expertise with me during training.
I look forward to establishing the Gutter-Vac name on the Central Coast of NSW and would like to see it become a household name within the area.
I feel privileged to be the first Gutter-Vac franchisee in NSW and look forward to seeing other Gutter-Vac franchises being established in NSW. Thank you Warren for creating this wonderful opportunity for me and I hope to meet fellow franchisees in the not to distant future.
After initial reservations as to whether there really was a viable market out there for top end professional gutter cleaners, we decided to take the plunge, and what a plunge it has been.
Having to almost immediately reduce the hours I was working (for an employer) we have barely had time to look back. From small beginnings to two machines and being able to advertise for another three employees, all within 16 months and in a market where the Gutter-vac name wasn't recognised until after we got there. We now have work from the four biggest body corporate management companies, Govt contracts lots of schools and real estate work. Add regular repeat business from all these and of course the private domestic market and it all makes for a powerfully successful market.
The system has stood the test of time and will withstand any scrutiny. Years spent perfecting the equipment has led to an equipment package that is unbeatable and the support has been excellent. Although the business isn't rocket science, just keep honesty and a desire to get ahead by great customer service as the principle behind everything you do and you just can't miss.
We now know that there is a very real market for excellent customer service and a vastly superior (and easier) way to do what many home owners treat as one of the worlds most hated tasks, also that people are prepared to pay to have this done on a regular basis to protect the investment that is their home or investment property.
